MISSION FOCUS

Meet Ellison, a teenager I met in PNG during my medical and evangelistic outreach in April and May. She warmly welcomed me and shared her umbrella during the downpour of rain at the opening day’s events.

Her passion is amazing and heart touching. She is a Pathfinder, helping about 18 homeless children in her town, two of whom are orphans. She feeds them and encourages them to come to church.

We have a small portion of funds raised for PNG that has not been distributed and this seems like a good project to help.

PARTNERSHIP REPORT

GRM2 is the only organization partnered with Refuge House, the abuse shelter, to provide monthly gifts for the residents, including sorely needed bus passes.

The ladies’ needs continue to increase as Refuge House resources are stretched between multiple housing facilities.

Basics, like soap, lotion, hair products, toothpaste, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products, are regularly in short supply.

Your donation of any amount will both encourage the ladies and enlarge GRM2’s impact. Our goal is $1,000, which includes special gifts for Christmas.

Please help us help women who have sought protection at Refuge House.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

We can be so close to danger and not have a clue!

Recently, while in Gatlinburg, Tenn., I sat outside to soak in some vitamin D and savor the mountain views. The resort zealously warned guests to be aware of and in no manner engage with the bears that are also regular uninvited guests.

The pictures show the bear (“trespasser”) passing by the end of a truck. Look carefully at the picture of me sitting and notice the same truck is behind me.

Of course, there is a spiritual lesson in this close encounter!

In summary, in the Bible, bears symbolize God’s judgment. Read about the youth mocking Prophet Elisha in 2 Kings 2:23-24.

My takeaway? Don’t be so comfortable outside God’s will that His parental discipline catches me by surprise.

THOUGHT TO PONDER

Prayer is like eating, how many meals can we miss before our bodies let us know we are hungry?
